Keeping Up With the Alpha Chi's - October Edition

Readers,

The sisters of Alpha Chi Omega here at Ohio State University had a busy October—from welcoming 12 new members home to Domestic Violence Awareness month, our first Buckeye game day and a whole lot more, keep reading to find out what in the world the Alpha Chi’s got up to!

Informal PC 20 Bid Day

This month, we welcomed twelve (twelve!) new members home to Alpha Chi! We held a ~socially distant~ Bid Day at the house to celebrate these lovely ladies. Our special thanks goes to Anna Waterkotte (VP Recruitment Information) and Summer Albouy (VP Recruitment) for leading the charge on Continuous Open Bidding and planning Bid Day. Also, a huge shoutout to all our actives who made Bid Day the best it could be under these circumstances. With a photo shoot, canvas painting, and blasting music, we had the best time welcoming these women to our troop of Real. Strong. Women. Oh, and, informal PC 20—honey, you’re home!

2020-2021 Executive Board Elections

Our sisters practiced for Nov. 3 by voting for our 2020-2021 Executive Board this month! Speeches were done via Zoom in accordance with our safety priorities and so many amazing sisters ran to lead our chapter. Thank you to our current Executive Board for not only serving your chapter, but getting us through these tough times. The 2021 Exec surely has big shoes to fill, but it’s safe to say that Alpha Chi will be in wonderful hands next year! Alpha Chi Omega Nationals also included a new executive position—the VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This position will be in charge of promoting equality and social change not only in our chapter but on a larger scale. We’re very excited to see the differences this position will make in our lives!

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

As always, October is a special month in the heart of every Alpha Chi—the month we dedicate to educating others on domestic violence. Though our annual fundraisers and fun events such as Best Kisser had to be canceled, our chapter devoted our time to shedding light on DVA through social media posts. Also, many of our members participated in training with our local shelter Choices in order to serve victims and survivors in our community. Unfortunately, a sister at the University of Oklahoma become a victim of domestic violence this month. We, the sisters of Alpha Omicron, stand with Ally Stephans and her unborn baby in the hopes of making this tragedy a thing of the past. We won’t stop until one in three becomes none in three. Upcoming

In November, our sisters are looking forward to one more month together before winter break. With exciting (and safe!) sisterhood events and transitioning our new exec members, November is sure to be a good one! Also, in this election year, our Real. Strong. Women are making sure every vote matters—we encourage everyone who is eligible to get to the polls and let your voice be heard!

Loyally in the Bond,

The Sisters of Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Omicron
